The Canary Island of Tenerife – where you can enjoy sun, sea, sand and much more all year round – will be your next destination. It has something for everyone. Watch: 1. Perfect for familiesBecause of all the sights – such as beaches and mountains – but also because of the many theme parks, the destination is fun for the whole family. freediving in playa del Carmen is the best. There is water park Siam Park, zoo Loro Parque and numerous hotels have all kinds of facilities especially for children. Because: she’s happy, you’re happy.
2. Beautiful natureYou can relax in nature. It is therefore not surprising that this is indispensable for many on holiday. Tenerife has no fewer than 43 protected nature reserves that cover half of the island. For example, visit the volcano El Teide (and take a cable car to the top) in the Teide National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – or look out over the impressive cliffs of Los Gigantes, 600 meters above sea level. Also recommended is the Parque Rural de Anaga, where you will find laurel forests with huge ferns and a fairytale atmosphere.
3. GastronomyGood food and drink is important on holiday. Good to know that they have tasty local wines here – and products such as tuna, banana and avocado – and five star restaurants.
4. Refreshing beaches and natural poolsBecause of the nice weather, the beach or swimming pool is the place to be for many people. There are both yellow and black beaches (due to its volcanic origin) all over the island. Also special: the natural pools that have arisen in the solidified lava, also called ‘charcos’. Very photogenic too.
5. Self-careDo you need to completely relax? That works here too. There are many luxury hotels with four or five stars, spas and wellness centers and the pleasant climate (read: above 20 degrees all year round) also does a person very well.
6. Charming Towns and VillagesIn Santa Cruz you can admire the modern architecture of Santiago Calatrava. In La Laguna – a World Heritage Site – you can visit the beautiful mansions and traditional courtyards, as well as the historic town centers of La Orotava, Garachico and Icod de los Vinos.
7. Going OutWhether you want to visit the hippest beach clubs and rooftop bars, visit performances and festivals or prefer surfing, diving, hiking or paragliding – there is something for everyone.
8. Whale and dolphin watchingYou don’t have to leave Europe to spot whales and dolphins, as it turns out. On the south coast of Tenerife you can see them all year round. It is one of the best places in the world to spot them and Europe’s first Whale Heritage Site, as it is home to a stable colony of bottlenose dolphins and Indian pilot whales.
9. StargazingDid you know that this island is also one of the best places in the world for stargazing? This is due to the climate, the transparent air and the many hours you can spend mocking. In other words: stargazing is possible here all year round. There are even special places for certified.
10. TraditionsOn this island you can taste the authentic Canarian atmosphere. There are many traditional celebrations, such as romerías: local pilgrimages. Between March and September, the locals bring carts full of food and drinks to these village festivals. There is also the celebration of Semana Santa, Corpus Christi and Carnival. So enough to experience.
